Sara to direct 1920s-style short, Hungry Heart

Sara McIntyre has been invited to direct a short film titled “Hungry Heart“, based on a romantic 1927 novel by Gene Stratton Porter.

“Hungry Heart” is a story about how love inspires the discovery of independence, and follows the meeting (1926) and reunion (1931) of young Amaryllis and John as they determine to make their own choices in love and work.

Sara plans to shoot the film with stylistic references to the era of silent, black & white filmmaking. “We’ll record sync audio, but camera framing at that time was very traditional and movement was minimal. This film will rely on writing and performances, which is my favourite approach to telling a good story.”

The film is produced by Marena Dix, who is completing the Entertainment Business Management program at Vancouver Film School; Executive Produced by Robyn Wiener of Synergy Cinema Inc.; and Written by Dawn Prato, graduate of the Writing for Film and Television program at Vancouver Film School. Sara also serves as Story Editor.

An IndieGoGo fundraising campaign has been launched, and shooting is scheduled for early April of 2013.
